Established in 1995, Unique Technologies, Inc. began operations as an OEM supplier of ophthalmic blades to the world’s leading ophthalmic instrument and equipment company. Building on this solid foundation, Unique Technologies has developed and manufactured millions of blades and cutting instruments for some of the largest and most trusted names in the microsurgical industry. In addition, the Company has extended its manufacturing capabilities to include microsurgical blades commonly used in orthopedic, gastrointestinal, and cardiothoracic surgery. Unique’s proprietary manufacturing processes result from decades of product design and development experience yielding cutting instruments that reliably perform at the highest industry standards.
In 2004, after nearly a decade as a successful OEM supplier, and in response to the demands of a few of its key industry contacts, Unique expanded its business model to include the assembly and packaging of its blades as finished, sterile knives. In addition, the Company formalized its ISO compliant manufacturing processes and holds an ISO 13485:2016 certification. By the end of 2004, Unique had attained a CE Mark authorized under MDD 93/42/EEC and launched several private label knife lines including its own product, UniqueEdge®.
